Anthropology has always attempted to fill certain gaps, spaces, holes and voids in history, giving them meaning at each particular moment; what gaps will this dance work have?
That mystery, which does not necessarily have to be associated with something dark simply because it is a hole, could instead be connected to something bright, and this is what awakens the imaginary world of this proposal.
Starting from this idea, we try to imagine some of these gaps from the past, present and future. When the aliens arrive, they will attempt to decipher them, just as we did with our ancestors: trying to attribute to them the meaning we needed them to have. Filling these gaps with information and fake news from their time, driven by particular interests. Whether political, religious or, ultimately, economic.
This residency proposes an exercise in imagining the future, but also in emptying out our present and past. A body will appear on stage. That body entering the stage will provoke, or rather, will not provoke, the audience’s indignation at an act that promised the appearance, rather than the absence, of a body that will ultimately decide to come out. Perhaps it will provoke the audience’s indignation for other reasons.
