León

León is an alter ego of Noel Quintela, for whom no limits exist. He is the being into which Noel transforms to perform and reach all of his possibilities and potential. To blur the boundaries imposed by the ordinary earthly experience. León is everything and nothing at the same time. He is Noel Quintela in his purest form, and at the same time, completely the opposite. He exists in his consciousness and in the consciousness of everything he touches.

León always has goosebumps. He lives in a field of sunflowers and knows the names of all the flowers and mushrooms. He has two huge furry ears, with which he can hear birds from miles away. León performs, dances, plays, and knows all the songs, all the moves and martial arts, knows the stars, the constellations, and all of Galician toponymy; he knows everything that Noel doesn’t know yet. León practices hyper-honesty, biophilia, and embraces the continuous metamorphosis of his being. León lives in a continuous present, nourished by his ancestry and manifesting his future.

It is a project that will explore the voice, percussion, and body in Galician folklore, the performativity of a mythological and magical being, the expressiveness of hands and hips, and the creation of a character.

This residency is possible thanks to the support of Deputación da Coruña.
