Pupa, pupita, pupila. Un masaje de la visión.

Espazo RPM welcomes Basque choreographer Idoia Zabaleta to its autumn 2026 programme with her work Pupa, pupita, pupila. A Massage of Vision, an individual performative action in the form of a massage in which theatre appears at the back of the eyelids.

You make an appointment, arrive at the place and are greeted by a person, who invites you to lie down on a massage table next to a table with small objects and some pills. Whether it’s too warm, whether you’d like a blanket, they ask you to let your eyes fall, to abandon them at the back of your skull and offer them your eyelids. Of course, it is an act of generosity and a willingness to embark on an adventure. From that moment on, the lights go out and a singular massage begins, reminding you that in dreams you continue to see. The massage will last an hour, the theatre will too; the dream, however, will be shorter. By then, we will have reached port.

Sessions
2 rounds of 20 massages each.
First round: October 15, 16, 17 and 18
Second round: October 28, 29, 30 and 31

At the artist’s suggestion, the sessions at Espazo RPM will operate through a gift economy. During the first round, on October 15, 16, 17 and 18, people will access the work through prior registration. At the end of each individual session, each person will be invited to think of someone else to whom they would like to gift a massage of vision, which they will be able to receive during the second round, on October 28, 29, 30 and 31. Thus, each massage contains the possibility of another massage, each body the invocation of another body, and each person the vision of another person. Gifting one another.
